Client testimony
“I received the postpartum care from Fatima, which was relaxing, loving, and caring. I always felt like she was genuinely curious as to how I was doing in my recovery and postpartum recovery. She also provided massages and belly binding, which I LOVED! Highly recommend receiving care from Fatima!”
Client testimony
“I did not work with a doula after my first birth, but I knew my second time around I could really benefit from postpartum support. I did a lot of research into finding someone who met my criteria for someone I wanted to work with: POC, queer friendly, and culturally competent I don’t have a close relationship with my family of origin, but I know historically how important taking care of the body is after you have a child, so Fatima went above and beyond my expectations. From the delicious food she prepared, to the ceremonies of the bath and body work we did follow it, to the small touches like bringing a bouquet of flowers, she showed up in ways I truly appreciated and needed. Thank you Fatima! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you to anyone needing full spectrum of reproductive support!.”
Client testimony
“Fatima is an amazing , knowledgable doula . Without her I don't think I would have had such a positive birth story and a VBAC . She really did everything to support me physically and mentally and emotionally. I recommend her services to anyone expecting a baby".”
Client testimony
“Most amazing experience ever ! I would of not been able to make it through by birth without Fatima ! Hands down best thing I did was get Fatima as my doula! She is caring and very knowledgeable! Words can’t explain how amazing she truly is!”
“This was my second pregnancy, but my first with a Doula. I appreciate Fatima so much! She was just such a spiritual guide in my journey pre, during and post! Having her support before birth, was truly grounding for me because I felt supported in every aspect leading up to my birth. My delivery was so much smoother and having her presence there really made me feel more present and honoring my birthing journey. Her kind soul was so generous and giving during my post healing journey. Fatima made every aspect of healing less overwhelming and allowed me to embrace myself through the process.”
If we have worked together...
I would love to hear your experience, thoughts, and/or feedback on how your experience was with me serving as your doula. My goal with this survey is to identify how I can better improve my services and will also help others that are interested in seeking doula support from me. The required questions (ones with a red star next to it) from this survey will be shared on my website and you have the option to have your name attached to your review or not. Thank you!
About Fatima
Fatima Chavez Lopez(she/they) is a first-generation Chicana from Oxnard, California. Fatima attended California State University, Long Beach and graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor's of Arts in Sociology. She first started on this path in 2014 working with traditional plant medicine and after several years of studying, she developed an interest in womb health. She then completed her doula training in 2019 with Birthworkers of Color based in Long Beach. Since becoming a doula she has completed various trainings and workshops led by Indigenous and POC educators that have their work rooted in traditional practices and medicine. Through the University of California San Diego's Extension Program, Fatima completed the Lactation Educator and Counselor certification program in December 2019.
Fatima believes we know our body best and that we are guided by intuition, informed decisions, and consent. She believes through that wisdom we can make the best decisions about our body and health. She approaches care through a trauma informed lens and centers the individual and their needs first. Her doula work is rooted in Traditional Mexican medicine that is constantly evolving with teachings from her mother and mentors.
